New from Concord NC
My name is Niels Eskelsen. I am a new member from Concord North Carolina. I have a 1988 RX-7 convertable. It was a gift to me from my wife. I really appreciate her wanting to get me a fun car to drive. However, I am deciding on wether to keep it or not. I had hip replacement surgery a couple of years ago and I have a letting trouble getting in and out of it. Its cool and I enjoy driving it.
There are a few repair issues that I look forward to finding out how to do. I am not a mechanic, but I enjoy doing mechanical work...within limits.

Hi Niels
Sorry to hear about your hip
I know these cars can be a little troublesome to get in and out of, and can also be a bit on the uncomfortable side as well; so do what you gotta do! However, if you do decide to keep the car, I can assure you: this is the place to be for all your Rx7 related inquiries.
Good luck!

Thanks.
About the Hip, It made a huge difference in my quality of life. The one thing the doctor stressed was I needed to take care to make sure that I don't pop it out. So, I have been careful not to over stress the joint.
One question I have is if anyone has suggestion on getting parts of window relay switches. Both relay switches are not working.

I am glad that I found this site. I have been looking for some repair parts doing internet searches that ended up not finding much. This site has so much to offer and it is getting me excited about getting back to my Mazda.

I have found that the public liabrary is a good place to go to get older repair manuals. Just when they are shutting them down, I have found a higher need for them....

ur 88 is a 2nd gen but not quite sure which series(4 or 5) as i don't remember where the cut off date is. may be 89? there's a sticky thread in all the gen specific forums where u can d/l a copy of the fsm for ur specific yr model. the reason for the oil burn is the OMP(oil metering pump). the way i understand it is it helps in lubrication of the rotors and helps keep them cool. u could think of it as similar to a 2 stroke without the need to mix the oil with the gas, all tho some actually do that. not sure how much is normal but can probably be found in the fsm or owner's manual.
