NY The new broke Highschool kid

What's up guys since I just picked up a 93' Fd Figured i would drop in and introduce myself and the car. Just picked up the Fd its my first rotary and in typical welcome to the club fashion a brand new motor in it blew up on the 5 mile journey home. Im talking to the previous owner now we are not sure what caused it only the rear rotor is blown it seems, so ill probably be on the fourms tryingt o find out what caused it. Look forward to meeting people on the forums and learning more about these cars.

Were you able to figure out what caused the engine to blow out? New motor should come with a warranty of some sort, hope you got the car back up and running.

Welcome to the board.

Well, first of all, losing an engine always sucks. Grieve, but you'll have to get back on that horse. I'm not sure how that's going to work if you truly are a "broke" high school kid, but if you got this far, then getting an engine should be relatively easy - at least, in theory.

Here are some ideas to consider until you are able to get the engine apart and inspect it:
Did you get any verifiable history on the car from the previous owner? How "brand new" was the engine - had it been broken in yet? Who built it? Any mods in place? You mentioned driving it 5 miles home - was everything up to temp? How hard were you driving?
