I'm a new Rx7 owner
I'm 16
I have an 81 gs rx7
I bought it about a month ago from my dads friend and well tried to bring it back from the dead basically
so far I've fixed the interior
except I have no seats now.
And as I realized the interior isn't the most important part I began to try to start it.
We couldn't get it to crank or anything at all so we decided to take it to a shop just up the road thats worked on a few first gens like mine
the cars been sitting for 12 years
guess i forgot to mention
but the back tire was dryrotted
when we were trying to put on the spare we decided to get a better look at the rear axel
its completely destroyed
theres no way it can be fixed it would have to be replaced
when i got to looking into it i found for the price of this being replaced and just getting this one even driveable in my neighborhood it would take tons of money
it is so bad that its had a tree growing under it.
so I got to looking for some more for sale
and I found one that I really like its a member on here that owns it
so I've decided this is what I want to start with
no more hondas
no more fartcans
Im gonna keep the 81 and hopefully try to get this 80 off his hands nd learn how to work on a rotary by building up the 81 later
srry i was in a typin mood haha
heres what im working with right now anyways
hopefully i can get the 80 off his hands

haha yea shes pretty much dead
the body work wouldn't be too bad if it was just what was all on the outter body of the car but like the axels are bad too nd the wheel wells nd all are just about rusted out
got the car from a family friend though so its not that bad haha
I might can use some parts off of it
maybe?
lol
but thanks for the welcome

tis an eyesore seeing an RX like that but stick to it and bring it back to life! its so simple to take the easy route of buying a 'cherry' ride but you'll feel so much better if you do it all yourself! Welcome to the forums!

well i think if we knew for a fact the axels were good nd it would be driveable if not for the body work it wouldn't even be a problem
I'm still in highschool I'm a jr. but I take Auto Collision Repair at another school and its my second year there
we took an old 50 chevy that was a wholeeee lot worse than this body work wise and completely redid it to show room condition
with 600 thats including paint the body could be finished
then the cost of little things like new trimming and tail lights
I plan on going to uti though and if I do that then I'm probably gonna save this car and in the future get some new axels new drive train new everything basically when I'm going to school there
then bring it back to my ACR class to paint and do the body work
hopefully I can get an SA at my house soon haha Sam =]

oh and the reason it was left sitting was because it lost power and well the guy didn't really have a way or the will to figure out the problem
me nd my dad think it just needs a new carb
but he had another rx7 that he just started driving instead
bad part is he's not a car guy so he never really did anything but drive them to the golf course and work haha

She looks pretty roughed up :S
If I lived anywhere near you, I'd for sure come and help restore her back to life :P
But other than that, Looks like a good Rx
