MO new 7 owner...

Hey guys my names Rus, Ive been a Honda owner my whole life I had a 2001 prelude i had been building but i got bored and decided to move on and bought my first Rx7 about 2 weeks ago and i am loving my choice. Its and 85 gs it has a rebuilt 12a in it the body is pretty straight needs a paint job though, and the interior is in very good shape for the year it is. Ive taken it to a guy that lives in town that specializes in rotary motors and have had him work out a couple kinks and it runs like a dream now... i cant wait to start building it up a little this is gonna be my project car I'm hoping to turbo it one day. Right now I'm just learning as much as i can about these motors they really fascinate me lol... I think I'm gonna start with a racing beat exhaust doing the header presilencer and power pulse muffler then doing a port job but I'm not sure if i should go with a street port or a bridge port because the car will still probably be driven on the streets often but not on a daily basis but I'm unsure of the pros and cons are of the two and then doing some more work to her till shes ready for a turbo. but this is definitely one of the most fun to drive cars I have ever owned...

Welcome aboard, Rus! It sounds like you've got a great little rex on your hands and your also very fortunate to have a real live rotary guru in your area! Myself, I'd hold off on a bridgeport unless you can live with a 1000+ idle rpm in exchange for the upper end power.

Definitely get that exhaust system done first. You'll notice a gain right off the bat. After that, a big streetport job with a ported intake manifold and a modified carburetor will have the capacity to work right.

thanks for the reply ya i feel very lucky to have the rotary guru around here he seems very happy to explain and help me out with things he has even told me he could do the port job for me... i guess the guy that did the rebuild put the distributor on completely wrong and hooked up the leading and trailing wires to the coil backwards so its no wonder it was running like crap lol... I just sold my second car today so i should start having the cash flow needed to start building the seven.
