New to this

Hello all,

My name is Tyler and I currently reside in Phoenix, AZ. I'm a 26 year old Marine Corp veteran who is attempting to get into the Rx7 world. I've mostly has streetbike such as a bmw s1000rr however, I'm done riding. I almost lost my life last year due to a wreckless driver on the highway that left me in ICU for a month.

I want to get into this community and really just make my first purchase of an Rx7 FD. Does anyone know of any great site or listing where I could start looking. I'd like to stay in the 20k range. Please help a newbie out.
thanks,

Tyler

Tyler, welcome aboard. Glad to hear you are recovering from the accident. As bad as I want a street bike again the reward just isn’t worth the risk. As far as the fd search goes, I’ve seen them pop up in random places “bat” and random google searches, and the car lot across town. They are out there for sure, be savvy on condition or be prepared to do some work on it (most likely a little of both). The gurus on this site will help you through any questions. Good luck and Semper Fi.

Jason

Thanks alot!
when you say "bat" what do you mean exactly? I'm not a car mechanic by trade. I'm an airplane mechanic so I can do paint, metalwork, and basic mechanical stuff so hopefully it's not like an overhaul for that price range. Lol I just want one so bad now.

Bring A Trailer is a classic car sale sight, like Ebay Motors except the cars are generally nicer and much more expensive (from what ive seen).

It really depends. I don’t think I’d buy an fd now without thinking rebuild in the near future. Even with decent compression you never know. I’d hit up some cars and coffees or even hit the regional section here and see if you can meet some rotary guys in your area. A little networking never hurts. They might be able to show you a thing or two, recommend local shops ect. You’re talking about a car that is damn near 30 years old that people liked to abuse, so you never know what you are going to get. Do yourself a favor and have a solid, preferably paid for daily driver first. Not preaching, just my two cents.

Yeah absolutely,
I actually have a golf tdi that is my daily and my wife drives a little honda accord. One of the main reason why I want this vehicle is bc I know it can be challenging to understand. That's the excitement for me, taking an already attractive car and making it more "you". I will take your advice though and check a few car meets out and network some more. I'm sure you would be saying that to waste your own breath without experiencing it some yourself. I once was told an FD can thousand dollar you into the ground.

You’re not kidding with the $1000 bit. It’s way too easy to go off the deep end with these cars. Get a good runner then slowly modify it, is the smart mans game.
