N. Ga 2nd Gen racer
This is a bit about me and my project. I'm still learning the forum format, so if this gets posted in some techinical section, please excuse me.
I am a service advisor for a large RV network in Chattanooga, TN. I have been involved with autocrossing with the SCCA for three years now. Since I started, I have driven my '00 Dodge Dakota pickup truck. I seem to have some skill, as I have been able to remain competitive in the stock class. After realizing this, logic suggests that if I could get something that actually had some performance, I might be a force to be reconed with.
A year ago, I purchased a '88 GXL for $250 cash, and an old shotgun. It runs and drives, but someone tried to steal the radio, destroying the dash. My original plan was to go all-out race car and fab a dash, so this met my requirements, except it was an auto. trans. Progress has been slow, as money is tight, but recently I got a '91 RX7, model unknown. It had been converted to a chevy 350, which was gone, but still had a TH350 tranny, and it used to be a stick, so now I have all the parts between the two cars, and another engine and tranny to complete the 5-speed swap. The interior of the '91 is in perfect condition, and I'm going to part it out, as I know these are really hard to find.
I originally got the car not knowing much about the rotory, and took this as an opportunity to learn what I could. There are not many guys that I have found in my area that know much or deal with these, so joining this forum is a crucial source of info for my project.
I'm looking forward to learning more about these cars, and hope I may be able to provide some benefit to the other members of the forum.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
