Hey guys, my names Dan, and I picked up my first rx back in October, I'd been looking for one for years and I finally found a decent one with only 134k original miles. I've got a bridge port engine on the way and the way I see it these are my first steps into the world of racing, my real passion.

Now, the title, I was heavily into drugs for a few years, eventually coming to a head with heroin. I'll be clean a year in August and I would say largely because of my Mazda. Drugs were my life, and cars were always on the back burner, I loved them but I loved drugs more, so when I decided to get clean I just happened upon my 7 one day and I knew that she would be my new passion in life. Now, a year later, I've got a full time job (one I love) and am in the beginning stages or getting my car race ready, I've got an engine builder, a family more supportive than a jock strap and I'm so worried about failing that I just can't.

So yeah, that's my story, when I get out to my 7 I'll take some pics, she's an 87 rx7 gxl with a corksport exhaust and short shifter right now, but soon she's getting a bridge ported carbed race engine, did I mention I only payed 600 bucks for her?

It was a pretty dark time looking back on it, but I'm very excited to see what the future brings! Every time I start my 7 I get the same rush I did when I'd score some dope, rotary is my drug.

 

..your engine can smoke a bit..heh.
and it will catch on fire too..so don't get flashbacks!

Now, forgive me (and please inform me), if I'm breaking forum rules. However, immediately after reading this post, I felt I had to comment.

No matter who you are, your skin, or anything else, the past is the past. I want to congratulate you on your recovery and newfound interest. In my area of study, we interact and learn from those with past drug addictions. Reading your past really invigorates that dwindled passion for both humans and cars. Specifically, that there are good people out there, and that the 7 is much more than just a car. Yes, it goes from point A to B. However, the sheer weight of what you said should not be taken lightly. The 7 is a way of life, a community culture which can truly change the very foundations of an individual. Thanks for your post!

Oh, and bridgeport would be nice! Hopefully I can get one sometime soon (after my reliability mods). Although, a bridgeport may be too gas-hungry for a daily. x)
