The Million Mile Journey
The Million Mile Journey
Hi my name is Austin! I bought my FC and named him BMO, the goal is to drive it to 1 Million miles and have the odometer roll over, then the next journey can begin. We have 137,500 miles so far.
Welcome to the forum. You will need to drive across America a few hundred times to get those miles in.
You better get started now.......
Hopefully, I live to see the last mile, that will be quite the achievement.

well if I drive normally it should be around 50 years from now. So. I hope you have your youth Jeff XD otherwise I’ll just have to drive harder more often lol
highest mile FC i ever saw was mid 400k's and it had been through at least 3 engines, though it was a turboII, the n/a can go a few extra miles between major issues.
i have seen stock FC non turbos go about mid 200k's before needing an engine.
simplify the engine, get rid of emissions if allowable and premix your fuel for a more reliable car.
the real issue is the irons coolant seal walls tend to break off and spit out a coolant seal, flush the coolant regularly.

As far as I know, the highest mileage FC sold to the public went about 450K miles before needing a rebuild on its original engine. This was in the late 90's/early 2000's, some guy named Marcus who was on the old FC3S email list server - story was he had the car since it was new, a series 4 normally aspirated FC that he daily drove in northern California for many years, mostly long commutes to/from work. Its engine finally died at around 450K miles after its internal cooling seal failed. IIRC, he did get it rebuilt, and it logged some more miles post-rebuild, but I lost track of it after that.

Welcome, and good luck hitting your million mile goal! FWIW, it think 1/2 a million miles is achievable, but a full million may be a stretch.
