low budget 83 GSL
Hello from Northeast Georgia! A buddy and I picked up an 83 GSL a few months ago and entered it in the GRM $2009 Challenge.
I come from a miata back ground, but the RX7 is really growing on me. Unfortunately, I'm not real familiar with the car or it's engine, but I see the potential for a great autocross machine. All that we have done so far is strip the interior, replaced the radiator, did a cheap home brew rear exhaust (it is LOUD) and we picked up a used rack and pinion conversion. There was a ton of slop in the stock steering, so this was a must. It looked like the previous owner had already attempted to adjust the box, so we just ripped it out.
I'll be looking for ideas and opinions on increasing the performance of this basically stock car, but would like to continue the theme of doing it on the cheap. Please note that I want to do it cheap, but I want to do it right. I'm thinking a little more power from the 12a, dropping weight where ever possible and improving the suspension. Suggestions?

not sure what kind of wheels they are, we picked them up on craigslist. the 4x110 pattern is a pain in the rear to find!
These are 15" and had a cover that bolts on over the lugs, but we thought they looked better without the covers. I call them 80's bling.

satin black for the win... I'm hoping it will be a little more colorful at some point, but there is something to be said for being able to get touch up paint at lowes...
