Looking to buy FD - what is a reasonable price to pay???
Hey guys, i'm looking to buy an FD here pretty soon. What should I expect to pay for one of these? I see some go for $9k while others go for $18k... The one I'm looking at is a '93 in green with 80k miles. It has 2k miles on a fresh rebuild. It is mostly stock minus some gauges and exhaust pipe. The paint looks pretty good for a 15 year old car, but it has a little bit of fading on the roof, a little dimple on the door and small chip on the fender. The driver seat is a visibly worn from getting in and out, but the interior is in OK condition overall.
What is a reasonable price to pay for such a car??? Can you use KBB to price them out?

KBB is irrelevant. The pricing usually reflects the quality. The 9k car will need 5k+ of work. The 18k car might not need much work. Lots of parts wear out in 15 years - coolant hoses, vacuum lines, turbo solenoids, suspension bushings, etc. In the end, it depends on your budget and how much work/$ you want to do after you buy it.
Go to the 3rd gen FAQ thread and read the Buyer's Guides link in that thread. Its in the FAQ thread that you posted in as having read.
Post back if you have specific questions.
If you see one local, you are welcome to contact me if you want a second set of eyes. I don't always have time but if I do, I'd be happy to help.

Also one more question: The engine was rebuilt 7 years ago and then the car was never put together and run. Will that engine still be as good from the rebuild? I heard that rotaries dont like to sit.

No, I can tell you from personal experience that rotaries do not like to sit. Check out my post:https://www.rx7club.com/introduce-yourself-254/long-time-lurker-saying-hello-877214/
Also, it is common for people to attempt a rebuild and get in over their head. So common that shops often charge you extra if the engine is already taken apart (dummy tax). ...But wait, in first post you said that it has 2K miles on rebuild? which is it?

wow I think these are valuable cars, but in the current state now it just seems that people are not willing to pay much for them anymore, as with most of the other imports in its class. Its getting harder and harder to sell them. We deal in 3000GT VR4's mostly and they are going for about $5-$6k in normal shape stock, a far cry from the nearly $40k sticker price they once had
