looking to become a rx-7 owner
hello community,
my name is curtis and i live in middle TN. i am no stranger to the car enthusiast scene and have been into it my whole life. im 23 yrs young knocking on the door of being 24. i currently own a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8, and also have a fully built 1991 Honda Crx. I CURRENTLY DO NOT OWN A RX7
The evolution is and has been a great car. the 4g63 responds very well to mods and power seems almost too easy to obtain from these motors. i doubt i could ever live with myself if i ever got rid of it. Now lets get down to the basics.
im on the hunt for a rx7 92+ fd plain and simple. the evolution has always been a fav of mine but for a dream car its either the rx7 or supra and well the rx7 is more easily obtainable. in my years of driving i have only maybe seen 5 fd rx7s. all of them were stock appearing except for one, which i am sure he is prob a member here. what im planning on doing when i get my priorities in order is to sell my crx and take out another loan once the evolution is paid off and buy an rx7.
i joined this site to start my research and get in depth before getting in over my head, to find out what setups work and what doesnt, and basically to learn more about the rotory motor before i switch to something without pistons. i also would like to find out the weaknesses and strengths of the cars and what to look for as i have heard some stories about rotaries being unreliable.
any tips on where to start browsing and looking for info on the matter as in basic engine maintenance to engine tech about these cars would be appreciated and any other advice as well. thanks and wish me luck on my quest to obtain my dream car.

Cool! As you've stated already, you're doing your research. The best thing you can do is read read read. There is a lot of information on this website and you just need to dig to find your answers. Good luck!
thanks guys. the more i search the site the more im learning. its just different than other forums im use to in finding things. only complaint i would have so far is that alot of the threads are limited to a post count, but in a way its a good thing to make sure the communty is actively participating in order to post and make new threads.
im in the same boat as you except Im selling a mustang for an rx7..haha So far I found an rx7 is easy to maintain as long as your not lazy and willing to put in the hours, anyways good luck with your search I live in KY not too far from you good luck!
I've had my 93 RX7 for 10 years and had next to no problems with it and it gets autocrossed and track raced on weekends.
I like the turbo version, great speed and responsive handling.
Keep your eye on fluids, mostly oil, and it will give you years of fun driving.

may have found the dream car ive always wanted, now to work up the courage to let the evo go. this will be the tuffest decision to make ever. right now the owner is in TX but says he wants to take a look at trading when he comes back, i told him im still on the fence about trading so whatever anyone has to offer it is going to have to be damn good. I dont want to get screwed and a week later the car develop a rod knock o_O..... JUST KIDDING haha. here is the link tell me what you guys think.
