Long-time RX enthusiast
Hello all!
Earlier in my enthusiast-life, I ran exclusively Japanese cars. My first car was a 1980 Toyota Corolla Tercel when I was 14. I did a top-end rebuild and had a blast in that car! I moved on to a 240SX which was such a capable chassis, but lacked the grunt in the KA24E SOHC engine, it just wasn't enough. I picked up a 1980 RX-7 GL, and loved that car! It had the balance, and was light weight enough to be tossable and fun. Since it was the late 90's, cars were cheap so I went ballistic and picked up an FD. It had problems, and felt like a ticking bomb, but it was one of the most beautiful shapes to ever come from Japan. I eventually sold that car and picked up a WRX when they landed stateside. A small auction house on my commute had an FC TII on the lot, so I had to sop in and register for the upcoming auction. I picked it up and ended up replacing the turbo and exhaust to resolve a smoking issue it had. Unfortunately this was in Cali, and I lived in an apartment at the time (replacing exhaust and turbos in a parking lot is a bit of a challenge I must say). So when it failed emissions, I had to sell it on without ever enjoying it on the street. Once I got a garage, I filled it with a Jensen Healey and started my British affair. Id love to get another FC so I can complete the picture though. I always saw the shape of the FC as the purest display of 90's "sports car". Just enough aggression in the wheel arches, wing, and front spoiler to show intent, while remaining timeless!
