long time Lurker.

Im a 300zx two time owner.

thinking about becoming an FD RX7 owner.

I have a found an R1 chassis for a great price, great condition and it needs an engine.
good buy?

I'm also a big guy, 6'4 230lbs. but I believe I will fit.

I'm looking for a car i can use at Track events, canyon runs and just have fun in.

I live in westchester NY and i have a Silver Twin turbo 300zx so some of you may have seen me around. i used to have a Black non turbo 300zx with a VERY loud exhaust system.

but i do have a few questions.

What is generally the best single turbo that can support 600whp and also is nice around town on low boost?

i read that a stock RX7 is capable of 1G when i came out, with current tire tech and suspension tech what is generally the best way to spend my money on suspension? Solid bushings, Sway bars, Coilovers, Braces?

Are RX7's geared more towards- Understeer/Neutral/oversteer?

how do they perform in the wet? the 300zx is notorious for the rear end coming around in the wet.

I already know RX7's are horrible with gas mileage but then again so is my 300zx because i can't resist going into boost.

and i do all my modifications myself. so no shop needed.

Welcome to the Forum,

FYI; Since you are a lurker, I'm sure you know that the people around here have made up a nice FAQ section that should be searched before asking any direct questions. Most of them have been answered before inn some shape or form. Starting out with a low post count, ppl are more likely to flame you for asking questions without searching first. (just a heads up)

To answer your question about size, I am 6'2" 200# and fit in the car snugly. If you push the seat back and tilt it, the car is very comfortable. You are getting on the upper end of the size limits for the car though. My hair does rub along the ceiling at times (I have a sunroof) so I would be concerned for your headroom when you have a helmet on. You should bring one when you go around car hunting just to make sure it fits too.

Also, The cheapest thing you can do with the FD this is buy it. Make sure that you have a healthy amount of money saved up to maintain this car properly. But, for all the pain and Paychecks you go through with this car, it is still totally worth it.

Oh, and don't drive it when its wet out unless you absolutely have to. (esp if you got 600) Remember that it is even lighter then the 300zx and that much more tail happy.
