I got my 93 Montego blue touring from a buddy of mine back in 2002. He had brought it for his son when he was in college, and then took it away from him when he dropped out.
The car went from a like new, with 35,000 miles on the clock, to abused a year later at 65,000 miles.
A trip to the local Mazda dealer for: 3rd /5th synchronizer repair, clutch, OEM Catback (needed for inspection sticker), RH door pull, tires, a battery and minor bodywork and a total repaint… and then home.
Over the years I’ve replaced or added all the little things that all rx-7’s seem to need. This summer I replaced the turbos with 99 spec twins, y-pipe, JDM Mazda downpipe sans cat, and added a B&M shifter.
In November I got the smoke screen at start-up (coolant seals) and I ordered a Mazda rebuilt.
So I’ve made a winter project out of car…I’ve returned the core but the rebuilt engine is still on the stand and I work on the car as time permits.
I joined the RX7Club to browse the posts for tips and/or horror stories to avoid, in between tinkering.

thanks
