MI Long time addict, new owner.

Well the names Zack. I got into RX-7's back when I first saw The Fast and the Furious. Lame I know, but I grew up loving Corvettes and Vipers. And seeing that 3rd gen FD Vin Diesel was driving, my first thought was Viper. Now let me note that growing up I never got into cars until I could drive them. But I found out what it was and I liked it. A lot cheaper than a Viper, and capable of out-performing one at a fraction of the cost after building. So I started looking for RX-7's like crazy, trying to find and buy one. I got into college at Ohio Tech for an Automotive Technology program where I really got into researching them. I learned how the motors worked, why they're superior to piston motors, and how to rebuild them to an extent. I actually skipped class assignments to research the motors and cars. In high performance I actually got to rebuild a 13b and I took a 2 hour road trip to test drive one. My other cars had been a 1998 Mercury Mystique and a 1999 Ford Taurus. So getting my 1985 GSL 5-speed was a load of new experiences. Manual, rear wheel drive, carborated, older than me...the list goes on. Sadly my frame is bent, the body is in rough shape, the driveshaft is worn out, and the suspension is gone. But I found a 1991 with a blown motor for $500 and I'll be posting questions on this later. So I guess that about covers it. Hope to learn more and get to know some new addicts ^_^.

I'm always interested in seeing other RXs around. I know some guys in Jackson that are major into them and have owned all 3 gens. I have yet to personally see one with anything other than a rotary in it. I'm not particularly a fan of that, no offense. I just think the Rotary is like a NASA computer: Capable of so much more than what we all use at home, but you gotta know your stuff to work on them. When you can get 165 horse out of a stock 1.3 liter N/A motor from 87, whereas I barely had 120 in a 98 2.0L 4 banger....I just like the rotary concept. I do think it'd be cool though to call it a Mazda 350-7 Magnum. To each their own I guess.
