MN like saving a puppy from the pound

since I was 14 i was obsessed with rx7's (in particular the fc) but i couldnt really get it as a first car, so for a few years i drove a delsol si, then i traded up to a maxima 5 speed.. but recently i was at my work (salvage yard/auto parts store) when I was looking at the line of cars to be crushed and I saw it.. the white 1990 rx7 NA with racing beat exhaust. There was no way i could watch it get crushed. so I walked up to it and assumed the worst: blown apex seal. of course the plugs were already out so i turned it over, and of course it was blown apex seals(or it sounded like it at least). although i didnt care so i just bought it, and im putting it in storage for the winter and hopefully i'll figure out what to do this spring (TII swap, rebuild, or get working NA 13b). but it should be a great car once done!

Awesome man. Every time i go out to the salvage yard to pick up parts for mine i cry on the way home. Such a waste. We've got 5 FB's, 3 S4 FC's and a couple S5's...All gutted and trashed and rusting away. Makes me wonder how anyone could just...Throw away a car like this. None of them are wrecked, actually looked like they were in great shape. Oh well. I just hope they never crush them, saves me some money you know?

I worked at a scrapyard one summer that had a strict policy against buying the incoming metal... Absolutely heartbreaking. Good luck with your project.

I entirely agree. The only FB I could find around me was an 85 GS. However, this one looked like it had been dropped on its belly with no wheels on it, so all the quarters, rockers, and the grille was shot. The interior had barely been touched though, because barely anyone around me knows what it is. So I got the parts I needed, and should have grabbed more. I have yet to go back and grab some more because it also makes me upset seeing this car sitting there, rotting. It had everything on it too, 12A, 5sp trannny, nothing was taken when I was there. I need to get back there and see if I can buy the whole car or Im gonna gut it out and sell the parts on the forum that I don't need to try and give back to the community here. Such a waste and underappreciation of these beautiful vehicles.

No, I've got a daily driver (5 speed 2000 maxima). And ya I know MAP, I went to just about every ricekiller event there this last year and ya eventually I hope to maybe do a little autox and drifting. I think they already posted up proving grounds on facebook for this summer too
