Kinda new in Virginia

I have been a member for a long time, but have not visited in five years. I have a 1983 SE that I bought new. It does a lot of sitting and little driving. Drove it about 60 miles on the interstate, no problems, a couple days later I take it out and it will hardly run. Bucks and balks and will not get up to speed, seems to be starved of fuel.
The shop I always used, "Mitchums Enterprise" in Midlothian is no longer in operation, Is there a shop in the Richmond Va. area or a knowledgeable individual in the area that can sort this thing out for me?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Welcome to the forum! Would love to see pictures of the car. Regarding your issues, you'll want to hit up the 1st Gen tech section for more answers. But new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, new vacuum lines, a carb rebuild with a new fuel filter, and a removal and cleaning of the gas tank and pickup would be the first place I would start.

Yes, always good to see original owners find their way here. Dave hit your most likely problem. Gunk in the gas tank, fuel lines and / or carb from long term sitting. I don't think you need a rotary specialist as much as you need a old fashion "mechanic" with some horse sense. You might seek out a local car club or gathering. Some one there is bound to know or be able to recommend someone more in tune with the inherent problems that come with classic cars.

Pictures of my 83 LE

Here of some pictures of the car. It has had one repaint. Mechanicals are all original except for wear items, and a replaced antennae. Also, some folks had sent me PM's. In trying to open them I somehow managed to delete them. Please resend, thanks,

Beautiful car. I used to go to Mitchum as well way back in the day - mostly to buy parts off the FC parts cars he had there. He had an awesome IMSA FC race car or two there at one point. Plus a few spec RX-7 race cars. Wonder where they ended up.

Call Island Imports on Main Street and see if they still work on these. I remember talking to a 1st gen guy who said he took his car there on the regular and was happy with the experience.
