Just joined the club

Hey guys,

I'm looking forward to being a part of this community, been a long time lurker but now that I picked up my first FC I thought I'd join in on the fun.

About a month ago I picked up a non running base model that I never got to look at underneath before buying and unfortunately learned the hard way when I got it home that it was completely rotten and way too big of a project than I was hoping for. Thankfully the wife was kind and let me look for another one to start the project off, so I grabbed another base model FC for a good price and was able to drive this one home.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you and learn a lot!

First off is to eliminate any and all rust, I want this car to be with me for the next 10+ years. I have hardly any experience in auto body repair so it should be a long and interesting project, one I'm looking forward to!

Once I have a rust free foundation to start on I'd like to replace all suspension and drivetrain, upgrading to T2 rear end and 5 lug all around. At this point I'll work on installing one of those energy bushing master kits to get the car feeling like new.

For the motor I'm keeping it 13b like it was intended. Ideally I'd like to find a T2 engine and trans in need of a rebuild, but so far it seems they don't exist anymore, so I might end up going with a 13b-rew + trans and picking up an angel motorsports cradle to mount it.

This is my first project car, I've had other cool sports cars in the past like a skyline gts-t, gc8 WRX, and a turbo 81 Celica, but this is the first one I'll actually be building from pretty much scratch and it excites me every time I see it in the garage.

Thanks for the welcome!
