Just bought a 94 jdm rx7 from Japan.
Owned a 93 us rx7 10 years ago briefly and sold it. I just bought this newly imported 94 with 50k miles and am learning as I go. Car is fun as hell and fast for what it is. I originally test drove and was buying a 94 twin turbo Supra but it sold too fast and was too much 💰 for a second vehicle. I also drove 3 jdm Nissan skylines and didn’t like them at all. Felt like sitting in a 90s maxima with a turbo. I drove the rx7 and loved it. It’s pretty clean, low miles, has new volk wheels and Toyo tires. Full blitz suspension and a Knight sport catback. Few odds and ends but clean all around. I already drained most fluids and replaced. Purchased a boost gauge and created my own intake. Most of all I hid a killswitch and a lowjack gps Incase it gets stolen. We compression tested the motor and cane back 98 and 101 on both rotors. Only issue I’ve seen that seems common is the tranny grinds in 5th gear. Hope over winter to convert to single turbo and hopefully put a 99 spec front end on.

I thought the same thing. I researched forever bc I was going single turbo and was going to remove it anyway. I decided to build a small open filter intake and the results are insane. I still have all vacuum lines intact. The car runs so much harder, faster and cooler. It opened up an insane amount of air flow for the radiator and intercooler as well as the turbos. I gained boost as well as spool. It’s the cheapest mod I’ve ever done on a car that has gained that much noticeable power. You can hear the turbos spool up like they are in your face. I got a boost gauge to monitor and installed a power fc so I don’t run lean. Over winter I will be going single but again I think everybody should open up the intake.

I got it from a local kid who imports cars on his own. He owns northeast auto imports in nh. Good kid very knowledgeable. Transaction was seamless and easy as hell. Registering and insurance was easy. Wish the prices weren’t so high but you get what you pay for. As the years go on more and more cars will come in from Japan and the prices will drop. Everybody asks me isn’t it weird to drive on the other side, and after one day I’m used to it.
