Intro, new to the RX7 world...

My son bought a 1985 RX7, it has the 1.1 liter na motor.
It his first car, and I will be helping to sort it out. (He also joined here as well)

We only paid $500 for the car and it has some issues, but I drove it an hour and a half home the night we bought it, so that bodes well I think.

I was very surprised to see how roomy the cockpit is given how small the car is. I am built like a line backer.... I sat in a Nissan 300 once and my head was hitting the ceiling, and my knees had no room. Getting down into this little thing, I was amazed at the room I had!

The car has 220,000 miles on it and Im sure it's not running to it's full capacity. Still, it is pretty fun to drive except for some scary handling issues. My goal for my son is to make it reliable and safe. No need for turbo kits or mods at this point, although tearing the emissions crap off seems appealing to me since we wont have to deal with testing here in MD given the car's age.

Ive got a million questions, but I will try to do alot of reading first.
The thing smoked badly on startup a few times, but we replaced some vac lines and since we did that got better.

The exhaust has a leak, and I think Id just tear the cats out and simplify it but we will see. (figure I may HAVE to remove some rats nest items if I yank the cats off)

The steering pulls badly to the left, so you can hold the wheel straight and drive it, but when the road gets bumpy, look out!

There is some sort of carb issue, it will bog badly right off the bat, I will make a tech post about that one since that is issue #1 for me.
