I'm Nick, new with a 91 NA
Hey everyone,
My name is Nick, and I recently picked up a black 91 s5 NA. My roots are in cars, and I have been a car guy since I was about 9. I started out dabbling in the Pontiac Fiero, and I have owned 2. I had a 1987 coupe, with a 2.8 swap 5 speed. The motor blew, and I ended up parting it out. I then picked up an 88 formula, which I swapped a 3.4 DOHC engine out of a Monte Carlo into. I was amazed at that swap. It pulled hard until the day the timing belt broke Right now I am working on a '46 *****'s cj2a restoration. It's a total frame off, and I have rebuilt the engine, trans, and transfer case.
Anyway, I saw an rx7 at a local used car stealership, and I immediately pulled in. I ended up trading my 95 firebird straight up for the 91 NA. The bird needed tires, struts, and an inspection. The rx7 already had all 3 . So I drove it home, and immediately began my research.
The exhaust was ghetto on it, and the seats were torn. I put a set of black enkei's on it that I had laying around. The first thing I ordered was a full exhaust. Borla carback, with a OBX header and presilencer. I am really happy with the way it sounds. I also ordered a set of Corbeau GTS II seats, which are still on their way. I did a tune up, with new plugs, wires, fuel filter, oil change, thermostat, o2 sensor, and an hks air filter. It runs a lot better now, and is noticeably quicker. However, my add coolant light keeps coming on, when I know it is full. I have added coolant, and burped in multiple times
The car had KYB's on all 4 corners, so I just installed a set of tein lowering springs, and threw on a set of enkei's that I had in my garage. I love the way it sits, but I noticed my rear caliper bolts are broken off. Gotta pull that whole knuckle to get them out.
