Talking I'm back! Feels good man...

For the tl;dr version skip to the third paragraph.

Hello everyone! After many years away and without-seven, I have returned to the land of all things seven-y. About 4 years back, I got my first car, a black 94 FD, and knowing I would need to learn all about it, I came to this board. Long story short, I was forced to sell it by my mom who thought it was too low, of all things, and was sure I would be killed. Someone in Paducah KY bought it and I've not heard about it since.

That was then though, and this is now. Over the years, and with the money from the seven, I've had the good fortune of being able to buy and drive various cars, one of which was an RX8 . To make another long story short though, after crashing an '86 911 that I had built over the course of about a year (note to self: don't drive after breaking up with a girl ) I decided to start a cheaper and faster project, one that would push the limits of being a street car, which brings me to... the present.

After searching for a while, I found what seemed like a straight if grungy 84 GSL automatic in Fresno for... 350 bucks! I figured this was a score, so I drove up from Los Angeles with a car trailer and trailered this bad boy back down. It's dirty as heck, and full of rat droppings, nests, and spiders, but there's no structural rust, and being that I'll be dropping in a 302 with a T-5, the automatic part didn't bother me. 184k miles on the shell, and the handbrake is still adjusted perfectly, and I suspect there is not much wear on things, being an auto and all. I have been slowly gutting it, and now there is only the engine to pull and sell before the build-up begins.

Here's my plan:

-FI aluminum head 302 making about 350 horses, mated to a T-5
-Tockico Illuminas and ~350 in-lb springs front, ~200 in-lb rear, maybe stiffer
-Full poly bushings, maybe camber plates (coilovers needed?)
-Diamond racing 15X8 steels with R888s in 235/45-15
-Fender flares, seam welds, racing seats, mariah front bumper or similar
-Battery relocation, whatever brake upgrades needed to do downhills
-Lighter hood and general front-end weight reduction
-New paint lols

This car will be a fairly dedicated canyon car, I have a P71 for daily duty. And now, pics! These were taken after I had already removed the fan, rad, and lots of interior, the interior is now almost completely stripped, only the steering shaft remains.

Awesome!!!! Welcome back to the club. We missed uuuuuuuuu haha not really but welcome anyways!

Now that you got a first gen RE Speed http://www.mrcmfg.com/catalog/ will be your best friend when it comes to suspension and stuff. That engine sounds like a fantastic project you should post a build thread.

Thanks! I have been checking out all sorts of sites, and RE-speed is one I have specced to buy the poly, springs, and maybe struts from. I'm sure you all missed me haha, it's strange how things happen in the span of a few years...
