Icon Garage 1992 RHD FD RX-7

My name is Matt and I live in Central KY. I am a structural engineer by day and car fanatic/tuner by night. I also chronicle my builds on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/c/IconGarage). I am a husband and father with a 40+ hour a week job with limited free time. I also like to DIY as much as I can, but I will seek professional help when something falls outside my skill. My builds focus on getting the job done efficiently and correctly with cost effective tools and resources. I plan to feature cars that have a significant influence on car culture.

One of my current projects is a 1992 right hand drive FD that I purchased from the YouTube channel b is for build. Yes, THAT car. Currently, the car is in rebuild/repair mode and I am trying to tackle the major issues. This winter I plan to pull the 13b and do a tear down, rebuild, and upgrade. At that time, I also hope to get the car into a body shop for some straightening and new paint. The primary goal for my build is a reliable (and low maintenance) 400 hp show/weekend car I can also track and auto-x.

The car currently features a few mods: widebody kit (rocket bunny style), catless exhaust, cold air intake, uncomfortable and flimsy racing bucket seats, scary wiring, and custom rust.

Build plans:
-Rebuild or replace most of car (brakes, transmission, suspension, interior, engine)
-single turbo
-street or half bridge port
-Haltech or Adaptronic ECU
-full performance fuel system
-race clutch
-upgrade intercooler and radiator
-a proper exhaust
-new suspension (possibly air bags, don't hate me too much if I do)
-more or less stock interior with custom audio
-I have some big decisions to make on the widebody kit, either keep it or go back to stock. If I keep the widebody look, I will need to decided to keep the rocket bunny style (and get an authentic kit) or swap it for a different kit.
-custom wheels
-new paint inside and out

I am always open to suggestions and discussion. This is my first rotary build and I have a lot to learn. I hope to contribute to the RX-7 / rotary community. If you have any interest on my build, please consider subscribing to my YouTube channel and follow me on other social media sites (@theicongarage on Instagram).

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. I wish you the best in trying to save this from the hack job that was done on it. Looks like you have most of the right ideas as to whats needed to be done. Unfortunately, I think youre going to have to decide towards keeping the widebody, the front will be simple to fix but the quarters will not only be difficult, but costly. You might be able to steer away from that horrendous Rocket Bunny kit and go towards an RE kit.

Hope you continue having patience and carry forward.
