I used to be called Jerd_Hambone

And now I'm Jerd_Hambone2.

Used to be here years ago. For a long time actually. But drifted out of the rotary scene but now the itch has returned.

Sadly, I’m not sure what the original email address was.

This is the new FC. 86 base model, slick top. Pretty fresh Mazda reman. Not an original claret car sadly. But she’s clean and straight. Few dings, paint on the bumper is a little roughed up. Standard maroon/green interior. (Why does it turn green….) All emissions deleted and OMP deleted. Bone stock otherwise.

I’ll snap some more pics tomorrow.

So far it needs the brakes bled, and is sitting low on voltage although it has a new battery and alternator. PO said it would overheat while driving, but not at idle. I did let it run for a good while and it definitely is not overheating at idle. I drove it about a half mile and it runs out nicely, but did not get hot. Actually the temp hand didn’t move.

Regardless, this is my new project so that I stop spending money on my daily. But falling into this car was like a dream I had years ago, and now I get to relive it.

Awesome looking car.

As for the aging material/colors in the interior, I had some good luck refinishing my red interior with a combination of SEM paint for the plastics and Duplicolor dye for the upholstery. You can see the results in my FC build thread in my signature.

I’ll check it out for sure. I’ve already been searching for ways to restore what I can but I’m a little bit cautious because if the colors don’t match perfectly my brain would malfunction 😂

Edit: I checked out your build. And now I want to try making all the interior black.

If the paint is the original color, Royals Maroon Metallic, its a very rare color! Your FC looks nice overall and I prefer the look of the car without the body kit. Just too much for me personally. The FC has beautiful lines and I feel like some body kits spoil those beautiful 80’s lines.

Sadly it’s not the original color. I’ve never seen a royal maroon in person, but I have owned a claret mica and a tornado silver FC. I do believe this is supposed to be painted claret, but I could be wrong.

I also love the just plain S4 body lines. A lot of the Japanese 80’s cars have killer lines. My next purchase will be a Starion.

I checked the paint code, and it is in fact Royal Maroon. So now I’ve had a Tornado Silver, Claret Mica and Royal Maroon.
