Hello I'm Devin from Missouri. I have been loving Mazda rotary cars and trucks for about eight years now.(since my first experience.) I have worked with and hung out with some great rotary builders and enthusiasts from different areas. I like being one of the few guys around that has experience diagnosing and repairing Rx-7s.
I have a 83 RX-7 FB with a mild rebuild by Jesus Padilla from Kilo racing engines in Orlando Florida. The car is pretty clean. The body has been restored to a certain extent, someone shaved the door handles which is kinda cool but a bit inconvenient. Engine bay is cleaned up with no emissions crap. Interior is not bad, black. The car is ready for a carburetor upgrade but has always run like a top. I rarely drive this piece because I would die if anything happened to it(stored inside). I keep the motor clean inside and out and keep up on routine maintenance.
I also have a 87 TII Rx-7 FC with no current engine in engine bay. I originally had a hybrid T3To4E Air Research turbo on stock internals. We all know how far a bad tune on stock internals will get you with any motor. Well that was back in high school when I didn't have as much knowledge or time as I do now. I installed a Granny's Speed Shop engine and transmission kit. Before doing so I took the time to remove everything from the engine bay to repaint. I purchased a stock LT1 with 60k miles on it. I recently disassembled the motor to verify internals being that it was a sitting motor. Every thing is within spec and up to my standards so I am rebuilding back to stock with new bearings so I can start out with power and gas millage. The chassis is not ready for real speed right now. I am anticipating driving this guy on the street more than the track in the beginning. When I ordered the V8 kit I selected the 700r4/t56 transmission cross member. In the beginning I had planned on achieving a t56 but I came across a free 700r4 with vett servo, valve body mods, and a few other changes. This was a sitting trans. so I disassembled it to verify its contents. Everything looks pretty good so all I need is to reassemble with a gasket kit and a few new friction plates. The chassis on my FC is basically stock other than a full Energy suspension bushing kit. My FC has been sitting for about four years now so I am ready to get it back on the road, and eventually when caged, only on the track. Well that was my intro, I have been on and off this forum for a few years now and can't believe that I am just now actively posting. I think I felt that just because I own a RX-7 or two I wasn't worthy of posting among such impressive enthusiasts. I now feel that I am an enthusiast worthy of posting. I might not own the fastest, most custom, or well known Rx-7s but I love everything about them and keeping them around. Thank you for excepting me into this unique community.
