NY i just got an rx-7 and am very excited

my name is Ian. Ive really liked the FC for a long time. i started looking for one this last xmas because i was planning to buy one this summer, when im out of school and have money. and also because i hate my current car, an 86 buick regal lol.

anyway, i came home for spring break yesterday and.... THERE WAS ONE SITTING THE THE DRIVEWAY! total surprise from my parents, and an early graduation present apparently. anyway its an 86 hardtop 5 speed with 100,000 on it. it needs some work but that's ok cause i really want to learn how to work on cars engine is clean and the worst problem is a small dent on the right front corner panel. hopefully i will be able to learn a lot of stuff from all of you as i start to work on it.

also im not going to lie, this was the first time i saw an FC one in person... there are none around here, though surprisingly enough it was originally bought where i live then driven south. that's probably why it survived.

i just got an rx-7 and am very excited

Welcome. My first RX7 was also an '86 model. What plans do you have for her?

mainly a restore, she does need some work, like some minor rust on the quarter panels, and the non functional sunroof and passenger side door. and she needs a new paint job... the 2 tone thing is bleh.

she's going to be my summer car, as i don't need one during school and the fact that the salt in buffalo eats cars alive...

CA Dent on the front quarter panel

The dent doesn't sound too bad, you can probably just swap the fender. You might even be able to find the same color from a local junk yard.

Enjoy your new Rx

Ah, you won't flip, haha

Are you planning on drifting it?

But glad to know you're excited about owning it. My parents wouldn't let me get a second car, and I've always liked Rx7's, so less than 2 months after I moved out, I bought me an FC roller, haha. That's an awesome present though, do her well.
