NC I acquired a "Free" 87' GXL!! First Rotary I've ever owned

Greetings RX7 Club Members!!

My name is Dave from North Carolina near Charlotte and Yes I acquired a "Free" RX7.

I have free in quotations because no car is really "Free". . .

The previous owner stated that the car runs and drives but when you try and accelerate hard it falls on its face and has no power. He thought is could be the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). Also the car has been sitting for about 6-8 months. He also has a 10th Anniversary that he is fixing up and was tired of looking at the GXL so he Gave it to me!!

Not sure if that is correct but if so, it looks like it would be a $400ish part. I found some YouTube videos on replacement and I'm confident in my minimal skills that I could replace myself.

As for first start up after sitting I'm planing on changing oil, oil filter, and Coolant exchange right off the bat. then removing plugs and putting an ounce of MMO (Murphy's Mystery Oil) in and letting it set for a day. Rotate the engine by hand if possible with help of half inch ratchet. Then repeat process a total of Three times so all the Apex seal have been lubricated enough. Then replace with new plugs and clean wires and start her up with lots of smoke I hear.

Let me know if this is right and if there are better ways of doing this.

also if you all think that the issue with having no power on hard acceleration is the TPS or something else

Thank you in advance for all the help!!

Here she is almost home. Had to stop at my local Harbor Freight so had to take a snap.

Looking for a Drivers side Door handle and or some Roll Down Doors. Currently has some wood blocks holding the windows up, no motors.

What do you all do with your oil mix bottle? is there a better way then just shoving it behind the seat?
