TX Hi New Member and FD Owner

Hi,
I am from Houston. Am a happy new FD owner. Growing up the FD always was an iconic car to me. I recently was able to find a clean 93 FD and was able to acquire one. I am a rotary and turbo newbie so will have lots of questions , so thank you in advance . Car is being shipped from Seattle area to me so hoping to arrive by this weekend.

Congrats she looks good! Which shipping company did you end up using, if you don’t mind me asking?

First time shipping a car the whole process def is not the best. I just googled and did an online quote with a random company. Then a bunch started to email me with prices quoted. So basically all these guys are brokers and they out your car shipment up for bid. Depending on how much you are willing to pay it gets picked up quicker. During shipping you do not get updated where you car currently is and cannot track it. Not like a UPS shipment. They call you a day or two before delivery.

AH! I see. Yeah, I haven't shipped a car yet. But considering how rare FDs are, there is a strong possibility of me having to do that. Did you call in advance, fly down and leave the car at the shipping company I guess?

I've never shipped a car before but considering how rare FDs are becoming. There's a good probability i'll have to. So did you end up calling ahead, flying down and leaving the car at pickup location?

That's a real beauty. I like the wheel color. I had an R33 GTR a couple years back with the LMGT4 bronze wheels.
I think they look good on dark color cars.

Congrats on the acquisition! I just got an FD a few months ago too.

I've shipped the same car twice using Truck-it-Transport, bought it from a guy in San Diego and had it shipped to Pennsylvania then the next year shipped it to a different guy in San Diego. Anyway, they say the driver will call you 24hrs in advance of pickup or delivery and then 3 hrs before they arrive. That never happened. On all four of the interactions (2 pickup, 2 dropoff) the driver called and said something along the lines of "I'll be there in ten minutes". Never any advance notice. Made for a couple tense phone calls with them and the company when we couldn't accommodate that.
I hope you have a better experience.
