Finaly the moment was there! I have bought my RX7 FD JDM spec.
After years of searching, dreaming and viewing movies on youtube, I finaly found the right on in the U.K.
After some emails and phone calls I was able to pick the car up near London.
I drove the car home (about 500km) and hadno flaws.
Some specs of the car:
Engine rebuild 1000km ago
complete stock engine (stock ecu, stock turbos)
HKS hypermax 3 suspension
5zigen catback exhaust
Bodywork of the car has no rust. Swayarms are in perfect conditions.
When I bought the car there where some problems;
- speedo and tacho didnt work - this is fixed
- tires where dryed out so it has some new rubbers
- the fairings on the lights where missing so I orderd new ones from Mazda
- surrounding fairing of the lights where missing
I have some plans for the car. But first I want to learn everything about the engine so it is perfect condition.
trworx in London has a bunch of spare engines. Buy one and strip it down. You will need the parts eventually and will learn a lot about what's going on inside.
Do you have the receipt from the engine rebuild? Did it come with a warranty?
Curious how much an engine rebuild in the UK will cost.
It's ranging from C$5000 - $15,000 in Western Canada depending on how much peripheral work is done.
Hi, thanks for all the positive reactions. More pictures will come soon.
The previous owner lived near Japan. Imported it back to the uk. It was his project car. But he had to move to Hongkong. So sold it to me.
The engine had a rebuild in Japan. No idea what he paided for it. Costs in the UK are around £1500 (around 2000 us dollar). But then you have to take the engine out your self haha. I have some experience with tech related objects. I own a motorcycle repair shop. So I can see that the engine was taken apart not long ago.
The reason I was interested by the rotary, was its unique desing. Plus, brapbrapbrap is awesome! There is no car, imo, that is that beautiful as the RX7!! Friends of mine have Skylines (R32, R33, r34), evo's, civics, miata's with 350hp.. but still, nothing is beating the looks and BRAAAP of the RX!
If I find a good engine, I will buy one. (Or pick it up in the uk, love the trip) for some spare parts and something to prep for good HP
For now, I have some other weird issues with this car. I hope if I have enough posts, you guys can help me out!
Thanks again for the positive vibe!

Reason: Typos
There are four tests you should do up front that are not expensive in aggregate and may save you chasing a series of weird issues.
1. Compression test.
2. Have codes read. Find someone with a JDM code reader or count the blips
3. Smoke test of air intake and vacuum line systems.
4. Coolant system pressure test
Some of the above is obvious, but I found the smoke test particularly useful. Would recommend you do semi-annually, or after any engine work.
Budget for replacing all the old sensors and solenoids, or you'll end up playing engine bay "wack a mole", as one after another fails.

It's been a while. But I found the issue with the car.
I build a smoke tester and found out that the lower intake manifold gasket was blown in pieces. I removed the engine prior to rebuild it. Also found out the turbo's, exhaust, injection system and a lot more needed service.
I will post some project photos soon if I figured out if my housings are re-usable.
