Hi, looking for a first car

Hello all, as my username suggests, i am a korean student looking for his first car. I have always been a car person and have always wanted a nice little sports car/coupé. Now that i am close to afford one, i have been looking at how much cars go for and since i can now afford one, i want to get a mazda rx7 or a mazdaspeed6. Im mainly looking for a fc (lhd would be preferred) since the fds in my area are all riced out and not close to stock ( i need the car as stock as possible with the exeption of cooling mods and maybe a new radio and such creature comforts.) but i have heard that turbo 13bs are more prone to breaking down than naturally aspirated ones. Keep in mind that i am 18 and this is my first car. Although i have a great passion for cars, and i wouldn’t mind working on it every weekend, i just cannot afford to replace the engine or the transmission. I am a ***** so i would drive sensibly all the time ( anything over 4k rpm in the q70 was a no-go for me) so yeah. Would you consider the rx7 fc as a first car considering my situation and if not could you suggest better cars in the 5500~7000 price range?

I would not get a rx7 as a daily driven car for a 18 year old. The mazdaspeed 6 seems like a much much better choice. I have seen rx7s driven daily and they are completely fine. Its just I see a **** ton more other cars that could be better daily drivers, plus you'll be looking at high mileage rx7's which will require a rebuild 50% of the time, or you'll pay an arm and a leg for one that's already rebuilt.. Unless you are a rotary fanatic and don't mind breaking down and fixing your car. etc... look into a car you can drive daily, and get the rx7 as a 2nd car. This is just my .02 cents.

Thanks! I guess i will have to start with something more sensible. The rx7 is a great car and i will definitly get one even if it is not the first car i buy. What do you think of the mx5 na? Do you have any thoughts on that car?

BC Miata 4 You

If you get a 25 year old Miata (MX5) you can put collector plates on it and save a bunch on insurance. Lots of Miata around in BC.
