The car is amazing fun to drive...it is my first rotary and my first convertible. Don't worry, I did a bit of research before I bought it. I add a bit of oil every week I fill up because I know rotaries burn it by design. I redline the car a couple times every week to prevent carbon buildup in the engine.
I'm sure there's other maintenance things I don't know, however. Feel free to clue me in.
Unfortunately, about a week ago I hit a piece of metal on the freeway and my trans automatically broke. 5th and reverse were shot, and my radiator got cracked. Very little body damage though, not even noticeable.
So I just had the transmission rebuilt and got a new clutch and new main seal. Trans is smooth like butter now. Oddly, my steering is now MORE precise and sharp since that incident.
There's a few small issues I need to take care of, still.
Passenger window regulator. Window does not work at all.
Radiator - small crack. Will fix when I can, until then I'll just habitually add coolant.
Sound system (only after other stuff)
New rag top (small tear or two)
On the window regulator, I'm looking at ebay motors -- I see a lot of parts from donor vehicles from years prior (e.g. an '86 coupe), and it says that it would be compatible with the '89 convert...but I'm skeptical.
Anyways, that's about all. I love this car to death...it is way more fun than my old '01 mustang.
Cheers guys!

My coolant beeper goes off every 3 or 4 days and then I add coolant. Should I just bite the bullet and get a new radiator?
Also am I able to start posting in the main boards?
Any other vert owners?

i'm sure it's the radiator. Two different places have told me to replace it @ quotes of 350 and 450.
Which is why I'm just adding coolant for now, the transmission rebuild was costly enough. I need to save up a bit of cash.
