Hello fellow RX7 owners.
My name is Winston and I live in the Houston area. Here is my RX7 journey-
I was in the US Air Force for 6 years, when I got out of the service I bought a 93 RX7 with my AF bonus; 13k cash. The car had one owner, who also had another for the track; when I was at his house I could see he was "well off". He had all the paperwork on everything he did to the car-oil changes, etc. The car was stock other than a turbo timer and old parts that were replaced with dealership ones. The body had 110k on it and the engine was the second one with 40k on it.
Now fast forward 4 years later to today.
After the AF I did not have the money to invest in the rx7 other that what I saw as maintenance up keep. Before you read this next statement I want to stress the following-
I have very basic mechanical skills, oil changes, simple electric work, transmission fluid etc; basic stuff.
About a year ago the car was making weird sounds and saw that the engine was running semi-hot and it "seemed" like my fuel economy was worse. I brought it in to the local mazda dealer (dont stone me) and they said it was turbos and engine going out basically (yet again dont stone me). I had the turbos and the engine rebuilt by the dealership with a warranty.
The car is still stock other than what I have said. I have currently fell on hard economic times since and can only afford basic upkeep on it. I would like any advice to protect my investment because I do plan on selling it fairly soon as I am getting older and plan on having children.
So like I said above, what can I do to upkeep my investment on a limited budget? Once again I am 99% RX7 amateur. Thank you all for your time.
