Hello from SoCal!

Whats up RX7 club...Just wanted to drop by and introduce myself. Even though I signed up a few years ago I never did make an intro thread! I'll start off by saying that an 84 GSL RX7 was my 1st car...and since Day 1 I've loved Rotaries. Though I built a really clean Honda a few years ago. The RX7 line up has always had a special place in my heart!

And little by little I am working (or saving my pennies I should say) towards one day owning my dream car. Ever since the FD came out when I was in High School it's the car I've drooled over, and dreamed about having. I've never pursued one because they are pricey and hard to find in a really clean stock condition without the owner asking for an arm and a leg. But now that I am older and wiser I've realized I only live once so hopefully by this time next year I will be an FD owner. But for the mean time I'm about to get my kicks building a 79 RX7 that I just bought today!

It's not much but my brother and a few friends of mine are going to compete in the 24 hour of Lemons out here in SoCal so what better platform then a RX7

The car has no engine and trans so I have to hunt that down, but after a rattle can job, a strip down, and some brake/wheel/suspension/safety upgrades we are going to have one hell of a fun car to play with at the track!!!

The FD is def a big goal for a lot of rotary peeps out there, so I hope you realize that dream, Marlon! It's good to see another RX-7 salvaged but what happens to the poor beast after the 24 Hours of Lemons? Here's hoping you find a proper Mazda heartbeat for the chassis and don't cheap out with some SBC or a Ferd.

Thanks for taking the time to register and welcome aboard RX-7 Club!

Thanks Mario!

Well we have decided to race the Chump Car World Series instead...they have way more events out here in SoCal so the plan is to keep the car and keep racing/having fun with it. I already started stripping it down and we found a great deal on a running 13B. The car will go to the fab shop here in about 2 weeks or so for it's cage. The goal is to just have fun in it.

And as for the FD I am not going to give up on that! It's going to happen sooner or later but it is going to happen! Glad to be here!

Welcome to the club bro. You're making me jealous with all this talk about racing. Once you get that baby up and going, please keep us updated on your track exploits.

Very much this. I love the Lemons race almost as much as I love RX-7s...I'd probably be too nervous to put any RX-7 through that much stress.

Whatever happens though, I bet the damage won't be as bad as some of those Subrarus...
