Hey guys, new (well, new in the last 10 years) owner of a first-gen here. My name is Colin, I live in Richmond VA and I picked up a pretty nice '83 last night. Silver with black/silver interior, 5 speed, 182k miles. I'm 35 (next week!) and I've owned a number of quirky cars over the years. I'm a member on several other forums (Isuzone, Zcar.com, Rennlist to name a few) and own a few of these cars. I drive a 1979 Datsun 280zx slicktop on a daily basis, have a 1989 Isuzu I-mark Sunsport as my back up and the wife and I have owned a 1988 Porsche 944 for years now. In college, I owned and drove the mess out of a 1988 RX-7. Engine fire ended that trip for me.

You like quirky, yer gonna get quirky with a 1stgen RX-7, I can guarantee that. Just don't get crazy frustrated with it because all of its quirkiness can be solved on the problem side of things. A little suspension tweaking, a change to better tires and an exhaust diameter upgrade all do wonders to making the 1stgen a true go kart for the streets.
