Hello from OH

Thought I'd say hi and welcome myself to the forums. My name is Paxton and this is my first time working on an RX7. The unfortunate part is that it's not even mine lol. A good friend of mine bought it with me in mind knowing that if anything went wrong I could figure it out... Well he blew it up. 400 whp on stock twins and it seems like it leaned out and took the whole front rotor and housing with it. Fortunately the RX7 store is helping us out with the car.

I've already gained a bunch of knowledge from this forum over the past couple days and plan on learning much more from you guys.

Hi Paxton, welcome to the board.

Quite the story there man. Did you get a look at the car before he bought it? (or shortly after?) Or did he really just buy the car, uninterested in its condition because he's got a mechanic like you on hand. I'd feel used if that were the case haha

anyways, again; welcome man, enjoy your stay!

Well he bought the car from one of his high school friends who originally had the car up here in OH and moved to NC. The car had about 20k put into it at the RX7 store in Columbus. He got it for a steal, 11.5k I think. There wasn't much wrong with it when he brought it to me, I had it at my shop for about a month just tweaking things for him. Adjusting the clutch, fixing an exhaust noise, adjusting the coilovers for city driving (the car was tracked), fixing the cluster lights, added a wideband (since the power FC doesn't do AF)...Just little stuff like that.

He had it for about 2 weeks and was in the middle of a pull and bam...one seal on the front rotor just blew into pieces. I don't feel used by any means because he's paying me, but I get to drive from time to time .

I talked him into going big single, full race twin scroll manifold w/ a borg warner s362 .91. He want's 500+ haha. Guess you could say this has definitely been a learning experience. I've build nissans, toyotas, mitsu's etc. Never a rotary though. Wish me luck!
