Hello, new owner SA22C 1979 in Ut.

Hello,

Robert out of Utah here,

Just picked up my uncles RX7 SA22C 1979. It has been sitting for probably 25 years. Sat waiting for a clutch and never got done. Getting ready to go pick it up next week or so. I'm pretty excited to get it all cleaned up.

Do you guys think I can get some clean fuel in it and try to start it up? only has 94K miles on it.

I'm sure I will be relying on you guys for a lot of thing in future so I thank you all in advance.

Congrats and welcome! See if it turns over by hand first. Might need to put some marvel mystery oil in the chambers to lube it up and get it free. There are threads here about unsticking an engine. If it turns, then yes you'll want to get a can or bottle of fuel to hook up and gravity feed the carb for starting. There is no drain in the SA's tank, so it needs to be dropped to clean it out.

Might want to disconnect the line and pump out some fuel first to look at the condition and make the tank lighter. Probably don't want to pump the old stuff through the carb. Post up some pics when you get it home.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new RX-7!! I'm excited to see pictures of the car! You'll definitely need to remove the fuel tank and clean it thoroughly. A carb rebuild along with a new fuel filter will be an absolute must as far as the fuel system is concerned. We can go further in depth in the 1st Gen tech section and guide you through getting the car back on the road.
