Hello from Japan

Hi Guys.
My name is Tyler!
I Just PCSed to Okinawa so I bought my first RX7. It's a 95 silver FD. It's stock, but has a few quirks I have to fix. It's a huge stress since I'm inpatient, but we'll see how it goes. I totally understand the obsession and the love/hate relationship already.

Haha come be my personal mechanic and I'll see if I can pull some strings!

I was going through the car with a friend and we found out that it used to be an auto, but one of the previous owners half-assed it and it still has the auto trans harness in, which is probably the source of a few gremlins.

Gremlins...
1 - One of the fog light buttons is wired to the reverse signal. Traced the wire into the engine bay and it goes straight into the harness.

2 - When I press the brakes all of the dash lights brighten.

3 - TPS is unplugged. When it's plugged in it idles poorly. Will need to recalibrate

RHD FTW! So have you taken that car up to the mountains yet? Even stock it can still pull I bet.

Welcome to the forums. There's a quite few rx guys in Okinawa, from what I understand. Zeroyon.com is a more local website you could go to. Have fun with the FD.

Around here it costs about $5-$6,000. Thinking about possibly bringing it back in pieces and building one off a US spec rolling chassis.

UPDATE!

Aftermarket stuff I bought it with: Knight sports 310KPH gauge cluster, FEED intake elbow, downpipe, Apex'i titanium exhaust.

Issues: Just found out that one of the lazy *** previous owners that modified this car sucks. He put an aftermarket fan in front of the condensor and didnt even really attach it, so it wore a hole in the condenser. Oh and found out that one fan is dead and one fan relay is dead. Fack! Anyway, I have a friend that is parting his FD out, so hopefully he still has all those parts.

On a high note, I found a very special part on this car a few days ago.... KNIGHT SPORTS 310 KPH GAUGE CLUSTER! ($800 used )

Parts on order: fuel filter, BBS LM 18x9/8 +40, tires, Hawk HPS pads, Power FC, boost/water temp/AF meters, silicone radiator hoses, bigger radiator.

Work done: New plugs, brake fluid flushed, new oil.

Went up to check out one touge and it was pretty good. My brakes suck, TPS is out of calibration, tires are cracked, and didn't have proper gauges to keep an eye on the temps/AF mixture, so I didn't go hard. That'll all be fixed within the next two weeks though.

Thanks! Just got my BBS LMs in, only to find out that I can't reverse mount them because of the balancing weight being in the way at the moment. Oh, and the bore is too small to mount. Nothing that a Dremel can't fix.

btw i got a question is it true that in Japan, once a car gets hit or in a accident its totally taken off the road or when it hits 80-100,000 km people buy new cars?

No. I don't know where that was started(I heard it before I came to Japan, also), but it's completely untrue.
