Hello from Italy

Hi everyone, my name is Andrea and, as the title says, I'm from Italy (so, please, forgive my language mistakes ).

First of all I'd like to compliment with all of you here for the great source of information that this forum is.

I've been reading this forum for quite some time, but never registered until now. The main reason that I didn't register earlier is that, unfortunately, I don't own a rotary powered car... yet. My current ride is a 2005 Fiat Grande Punto, powered by a tiny 1.3 liter 75Hp diesel engine (see? at least I got the displacement right ).

I've come to know the whole rotary engine/Mazda RX series thanks to videogames at first (Gran Turismo), and then began researching them. This research started when I was in the italian equivalent of High School, when the RX-8 had been released only a few months earlier (it was in late 2004 if I'm not mistaken).

At the time, I could not afford a car (not to mention that, at first, I didn't have a license yet), let alone a sports car. But I kept on researching and gathering data, promising myself that sooner or later I would drive a rotary powered car.

Now, I went through 5 years at the university driving my Grande Punto, but still dreaming the rotary. Little more than one year ago I started working, so now I have an income that can make my dream a reality. And to top it off, seven months ago the news came that Mazda is seriously thinking about bringing back the Rx-7 by 2017... can you vaguely imagine how excited I am?

So, the plan is to save as much as possible in these four years to be able to afford the car when it comes out (I'm not saying "if" it comes out because I'm convinced that sooner or later a new rotary WILL come). Even if the car is only available to order here in Italy (as was the case with the second series of the RX-8) and that I may not be able to see it in person before ordering mine, that does not discourage me. I will get one, promised.

So, sorry for the long first post and, once again, congratulations for this great forum.

Best regards,

Andrea.
