Hello from Illinois
Hi everyone. My name is Russ and I'm an owner of a '87 T2 with low milage < 90K. I've had this car in mothballs for quite awhile now but always had the intention of getting it back on the road. I'm trying to convince myself to get back into it again as I did have a lot of fun "back in the day" when it ran.
Unfortunately I blew a rotor back then on a supposedly rebuilt engine after only about 2 months of general use. Tearing it down I discovered the 'rebuild' was done with all used worn out parts. New gasskets visible and evidence of hylomar as expected but the parts inside were junk. Of course the seller 'disapeared' as one would expect. Lesson learned.
Anyway I have another engine is sitting on the stand rebuilt by Mazda but I never got around to reinstalling it.
So I'm on the fence to sell it all: the car, engine, a pile of parts (enough to build up another engine) or finish it. My schedule and priorities have changed some so the decision is not that easy.
I was a member of several previous forums and gained a lot of experience while I was involved with them and the car. I've been into every aspect of it so I'm not an RX newbee. Not an expert but not starting from scratch either.
Anyway, I thought I'd restart here and see where it leads me.

Welcome, Russ!
Sorry to hear about the troubles that you had. Personally, I would finish it and enjoy it, but I don't know all aspects of your decision.
Good luck with it. If you do finish it, we have a group of guys on here that can help you work through any kinks.

Thanks. It seems like a good group.
It took some soul searching but I think I'm going to pass it along to someone who cold get more enjoyment out of it. I've got grand kids now and the available time I used to have to work on a project like this just isn't there. I really did enjoy it when I used to work on it but I think "it's time". I know this isn't the particular forum for selling but I'll post some stuff to get the count up to qualify. Know anyone that's interested? ;-)
