Hello from Germany - NRW

Hi,

im Raptyr from Bottrop, Germany. I've been looking for a RX-7 for about 7 years
now but every time i found a nice FC, some **** happend so i never got one...
I started with an EG5 Civic and eventually boosted it to 65kpa. Pretty fun but i
never really likes FF cars. Next one was a 04 Civic EP2 Sport. Pretty lame with
110hp and again, a FF car... but it was really economic. fuel consumption was
ridiculusly low. about 5litres/100km.
last year i got a R33 Skyline GTS-T. It had a really nice Nismo R400 design bodykit,
new turbo, freshly made engine rebuild and so on... about 320hp. it was a really
nice ride to drive. i used it as my daily driver here in germany people stared
at me as i was passing by in a flying saucer... but something bugged me all the time:
it was pretty boring.... it was fast, but boring. so i sold it.
while looking for a FC again, i stumbled over a black FD: '97 Type RB Bathurst. it
had all the red interieur, a facelift front in the lovingly FEED design, a Sparco steering
wheel, Autoexe exhaust, Veilside wing and some H&R lowering springs. with only
66000km on the ODO i called the seller and we met a weekend later for
a testdrive...

DAMN that thing is FAST!!!

I found NO rust wherever i looked, engine ran really smooth, no sound from
cooking water after the drive, headlights were working fine and so on...
So i bought the car and drove home happy as can be

Well it weren't me if everything stayed that way -.- after 2 or 3 weeks the car
startet making sounds like fuelcut under heavy accelleration and sometimes
i couldnt even open the throttle more than 30%. Above 30% the engine started
to stutter and rapid bangs came from the exhaust...

I decided to replace the vac-hoses with Samco ones in green color, replaced the
one-way vac filters, fuel filter, checked the fuelpump and all the fuses and relays.
guess what? -> no changes -.-
i bought some contact-spray and spayed it on all the connectors from the vac-
valves and coilpacks. -> no changes
BUT: 2 days later everything ran fine... maybe the spray took its time to work
properly... i dont really know. I then also replaced the HKS R525RE sparks with
NGK BUR9EQP ones, as a friend told me the HKS ones were way too cold for an
untuned 13B engine.
Now the car runs really good. Sometimes there is some uneven idling but maybe
that is gone when i re adjust idling RPM...

Im still full of questions, ideas and plans so i decided to sign up here.

Greetings,

Bjoern a.k.a Raptyr
