NC Hello fellow Rotary Lovers(novel warning)

Hi Everyone.

I'm James Barfield here. Longtime favorite of the Mazda rotary engine since my uncle introduced me to my so called 1st rotary back in 95 in another state. It was a 84 GSL but no title SO can't get that one. Came to the next one a 85 GSL-LE gray outside and inside located at a airport. The gauges were different though, I swear it was digital from looking at them and remember how popular they were in those days but that one was sold to someone else. So it came down to my last one which is his personal one. A 84 GSL-LE blue with a body kit. One day it got stolen at the mall at his state. So from there I was just hurt.

In my home state of North Carolina, I did how ever found a silver 82 L model I believe. It belong to a old high school mate's brother. They were gonna sell it for a 100 bucks, it had a full leather upholstery there. At that time I didn't know much on rotaries as far as repair and was getting very limited information at that time, I believe in 99 so she sold it to the better Rotary lover. Which I was happy and not to some dummy thinking its another pretty piston classic. By then I graduated from high school and still no rotary as I seen others driving them and not me.

I gradated from college and still no rotary found in NC or another one from my uncle from his state on a FB model he can sell to me. But by 2006 or 5 not sure of the year yet, before I graduated from college I found my future rotary I am destined to. I found it on a highway going home from college on my commute for sale at the original owners house. I just got curious and stopped by and looked. I took pictures which will tell me the exact date when I have time to look. She wanted a high amount for it and I wasn't interested on buying it since I don't have the cash near a grand and a college student so I just told my mom about it and she looked into it and try to lower the price or so for me which I didn't ask her but she did it since she knows I been looking for this car for years. No luck, so the car was there for a week and then it was gone so I thought oh well another gone, Hope shes in good hands.

Fast forward to 2008 now armed with paying jobs, I was picking up computer parts and my GPS told me to make a different turn from where I normally leave the area. So I was thinking ok lets do it. Among the curve I found the exact same car right behind a fence with a for sale sign on it. I did a double take and turned my car in the parking lot to check it out. Everything was the same in the past. I wasn't sure till I got home and looked at my old pictures in my cell phone. It had the same stuff inside so I know for sure this is it. And the funny thing is that its the same lady who is still the same owner when I called her. So this time she is giving me a deadline on buying this car or its going to the auction which is really right down the road. On the last day I was working in another city and I was debating really hard on buying so I thought, the hell with it and call her up and offer a price I can pay and pay the rest later. Before I opened my mouth she said 500 is the lowest I can go. So without any brain cells and calculations calculating, at a blink of an I eye I said I will meet you in Greenville with the cash at this time. Withdrew the cash and met at the restaurant near East Carolina University. Bad mistake, ECU is notorious known for predatory towing and ticketing there and got a ticket there waiting on her. She never showed up but instead want to meet at a bar near the university. So I'm pissed of from the ticket I meet her she didn't remember me at first but preceded to business. We talked and she wasn't willing to sell this car to anyone. So I got tested to see if I am worthy of this rotary. She asked this question that I remember clearly, "Does this car have a timing chain and belt or lifters?" I said no then moved on if this car is a 4 cylinder or 6 and so on down to the history of other RX series cars. Once I passed the test she cried and cried and gave me the title and all to my 1st official 1983 Mazda RX7 Limited, I assume here. NOTE* I will post a picture just to be sure on this one on the Limited or special models post.

She tested me because she really love this car and really wants to sell it to someone who will care for this car right and fix her up well. I understand how she feels and would done the something If I had to sell it in a similar situation she was in. She has to sell it since she is moving away from her abusive boyfriend and needs a truck for her new job and the Mazda was too small for her. She's out there somewhere but I haven't heard from her much since those days since she is suppose to give me some books on the car and cover my ticket. Well I paid off the ticket and and tried to get the title right. I went through hell getting that title right and got a new one made in my name to have it official at long last.

I know this is a novel here but I thought my story will be a good introduce me page here and I hope I can meet you all anyway I can in my schedule, as I continue with my restoration process which has been going underway thanks to some family and friends help. I will try to work on this car as much as I can to get her up and going well at least before winter and stronger before march of this year if I can. Now I just need to make break this Rotary driving virginity off of me and her on the road since I haven't really driven a rotary on the road just yet.....But I have been using this site for advise and asked a few others in the past already so again nice to meet you all, but its been a long day for me so I am heading to bed again. Good Night
