Just picked up an FD last week. What an incredible car! I can see why there's so much passion for these cars on the forums. I've wanted one of these since 1993 (actually love the FB and FC's too), and now I'm here.
I picked this one up from fellow club member Snook last week. He's a hell of a guy! My shipping arrangements fell through, so I actually flew down to Tampa to pick up the car, and I drove her back to Boston over two days with no issues. The car is incredible!
As far as mods, she's got:
Intake (although I need a new one unless someone can tell me where to get the RE Amemiya foam intake element);
Intercooler;
PowerFC and tune;
Exhaust;
Turbo timer;
Boost and temp gauges; and
Aluminum door handles on the way (stock ones did not like Boston cold!).
As with any car over two decades old, there's a bunch of stuff I'll being doing to her restoration-wise. I'm not a full-fledged mechanic by any stretch, so I apologize in advance for all the basic questions I'll be asking this group!
I couldn't be happier with the car, and I'm very excited about being a part of this community! Without further adieu:
Pretty astounding that the cars over 20 years old now! I can't think of any cars in todays market that will have such an impact for generations to come
Welcome! FD looks great. We're local and are rotary specialists. I'd be glad to look over and help you with anything! Feel free to reach out to us! We can also get the RE-A Intake Filter!
Thanks, all! I'm going to need all the help I can get! It's great to know that there are some more or less local rotary experts. To be honest, that was one of my biggest concerns buying an FD -- my usual mechanic told me he wouldn't touch it!
We should definitely do a meet when the weather gets nicer!
