CA Hello (California FC owner-to-be with questions)

hi, my name is Kyle from OC area in Cali... i'm going to be getting a 1991 FC3S N/A here pretty soon, but i have a few questions about it (as expected) but let me tell you that it's not all 100% hopeless. i have engine knowledge, and basic knowledge of the rotary so feel free to talk techy (always want to learn more. i want to know the rotary inside and out!! i have always been fascinated by the rotary and RX series cars, but never had the opportunity to get one but now i do and i have a feeling i will LOVE every minute of my experience).

but my question however, is how much does a manual transmission swap in an FC go for? because the one i will be picking up is AT, but i plan to do a swap if it's not going to be a nightmare and a half. and are all FC transmissions weird like the turbo-2 S5 tranny? my friend has an FC and its gears seem really awkward (they seem diagonal rather than up and over) and 2nd gear rubs the ebrake if it's up... i am curious to know if his tranny is weird or if it's to be expected from an FC manual transmission... i come from the 240SX world (i know i know. super simple cars...) and a manual swap is relatively easy. so please let me know.

i've been drifting for a while, and have met many ppl with FCs and rotaries in other cars as well.. so i know most of their downfalls, but i have also been grazed with their amazingness when they are running, taken care of and built. so please help me get familiar with my soon-to-be FC! i have read many of the tech articles online, but if u can point me in a direction where i can learn more and more about how to work on and build these cars (or even where to go for help locally) that will be MUCH MUCH MUCH appreciated. thanks in advance for everyone who takes the time to help a newbie to the mazda rotary world ^~^

p.s. this will be my daily driver, but i still want to be able to take it to the track every so often, so any tips an outsider might not know about prepping or maintaining a rotary/FC for track use would be helpful too
