FL Hello, and bmw fun.

Hi, what's up? I'm not really new here but I haven't posted much at all so I thought I'd take some time to say hello to the community....Hello! Anyway I'm planing on taking a break from my FD to put a 12a or 13b in my 83 bmw 320i. I see that Dave had done it so now I'm fully confident that it'll work. If anyone has any suggestions for my build, I'd like to hear em. Thanks.

Danny

Welcome aboard, Danny! I'd definitely go with the 13B...they're a bit cheaper to rebuild than the 12A's and you're going to need the extra torque if the BMW weighs more then 2500 lbs.

Oh cool, how much less is the coast? I was thinking if I go 13b I'd go with a racing beat carb. or similar for simplicity and a clean engine bay.

Parts are just easier to come by and the aftermarket and the Vendors on this site tend to support the 13B with more choices of products than the older 12A. Cost is a subject way too vague to touch on since I've only had one engine rebuilt and it was a 12A done by Rotary Performance of Garland, TX way back when. If you do it yourself, you save a lot more.

That sounds like it would be a pretty fun project, and a pretty cool car in the end.
