NY Hello All! Glad to be here!

My name is Cris. I'm a married Father of 3 from Missouri who currently lives in Bronx New York. I'm a long time tuner, been tuning Toyotas for the past 15 or so years. I have owned everything from lowrider Mazda B2000's and Chevy S10 pickups to a 79 Camaro, a 88 Supra, and several Civics and Toyota Paseos. I just recently bought one of my dream cars though, a 1990 RX7. Sure it's not the turbo model, but for $800, I couldn't pass it up! Like most people, I started searching the internet to see how to fix all the little problems it has as I am a first time rotary owner. Most of my searches lead me to here, so I figured I should join up! Thanks in advance and I look forward to learning more about these great cars!

Thank you for the welcome. Still reading around the site, trying to work out these electrical gremlins. I'm quite capable with 12 volt wiring and control systems. Problem is, all I have is this piece of crap Haynes manual which doesn't tell me anything, so I keep referring to here. I have the factory repair manuals for my Toyotas. Guess I need one of those for this Mazda? lol

Hey chris, rx7s rock, but i gotta tell you, you will spend a lot of time and/or money fixing all the dumb little problems. thats not to say that you wont have the most fun EVER in it, cuz they are amazing. i have an 86 gxl and i cant even count how much i spent on harnesses, switches, and how much time i spend trying to DIY solder. but a lot of the little glitches can be ignored if they dont bother you much. just a thought

Well, I have until the end of the month to get the car able to pass New York State Safety and Emissions. That is my biggest goal right now. I have others cars, but I have always loved these and can't wait to be able to drive it daily. My wife drove it for the first time today. I think she likes it too, lol!

Didn't get it fixed today, but thanks to that link with a proper wire diagram and my wire and circuit testing thereafter, I have narrowed it down to individual components as opposed to just saying "my wipers don't work right and my headlights won't come on", lol! Thanks again guys!

Haven't been to Central Ave in years. And this time next year, I should be in North Carolina. Anyway, so far, I got my HVAC blower working, but no heat for some reason. Went from no wipers to wipers working on one speed. Went from no headlights to the passenger side one only working when the brights/Hi beams are on. Lol, a lot of little things are wrong with this car, but I forget all about them when I drive it. More work to do on it tomorrow...

Well, both of the bulbs in my front bumper lights were rusted in and only one worked. So instead of trying to find some cheap ones on ebay and hope they work or paying way too much for some new buckets. I took one of my 12"x12" sheets of carbon fiber, and bought some 8" white and amber LED strip lights from AutoZone, and commenced to making my own lights. Here are a couple of pics.
