NJ Hello!

Hi, RX-7 owners, my name is Kung Lo and I would like to say hello to you all and it is nice to be alive...

I bought a 1986 Mazda RX-7 GXL NA Manual Trans (White, with black trim/burgundy interior) back in the start of September and was finally able to procure a transportation company to deliver it to me 2 days ago. It is not the nicest 7 in the world but, the owner rarely drove it and stored it in the winter, it had 51,000 original miles and 20 years worth of dust on it.

I started loving the FC after seeing the White Comet in Initial D (anime) as a kid (well I'm only about to turn 18... so I'm still a kid) 10 years ago and ever since then I studied rotary and obsessed over the FC. Getting this car was really the best thing I've ever done...

Also, I live in NJ and here in the east coast where I live I've only been able to see a 7 in real life once, when it was passing through from another state, though I hated it because judging from the sound alone you could tell it was a v8 swap... I remember crying myself to sleep that night thinking about the injustice that I witnessed and did nothing to stop.

After getting the car I've thus far fixed the flip up lights so now they're flush when retracted, I did some work on the gas door mechanism so it closes and pops out properly, I've cleaned the sulfur build-up in the battery bay and the battery itself. I intend on keeping this car as stocked as possible... for some reason I just love the elegance and the originality of the car to the point where I'm afraid if I mod the car it won't be the same anymore... but then again I'm not saying that I'm against modding the 7... I've seen some really beautiful second Gens... it just all depends on the owner, as long as the reciprocating piston [shivers] stays away from the 7, then I'm good.

There is one question I would like to ask the masses... since this is my first 7, I was wondering is the throttle pedal only suppose to only have an 1-1.5 inches of travel in a manual transmission? The engine is so sensitive to even tiniest taps of the throttle. Well, not only is this my first 7, it is also my first manual tranny...
