GA Hello

Hello all, I've been lurking in the shadows for a while, gathering up all of your useful information but now it is time for me to come into the light and introduce myself, so I can buy some parts.

My RX-7 story started about 12 or 15 years ago. My wife(girlfreind at the time) needed some money to pay off some student loans. She had just paid off her first car, a Civic. I told her we could sell that Honda, pocket some cash and get her a different car she would like better. She was skeptical. We drove a 240, GTi(sweet but too much $$$) 300Zx and others. Eventualy, we came across a good deal on an RX-7, a nice 1986 GXL. The car had a fresh paint job and was kept very well. My wife fell in love with it right away and we bought it on the spot.

The trusty little Mazda served us well for many trouble free years leaving us wanting for nothing, aside from more power. Then, one sad day, soon after my wife started a new job, the headlight switch flaked out and started a dash fire. We were able to get the fire out quickly but the car looked like hell. I was offered $700 for it, but considering how clean it was I thought that offer was a bit low.

The car sat for a few years while the money required for it's resurection was gathered. My wife was froced to move on to another car (a 328is poor baby!) and the RX-7 is now going to be our backup car and track toy(fingers crossed).

Now, I've almost got the little bugger back on the road. I've got 95% of the interior done, just need window switches and the proper turn signal switch/harness. The OE shocks are a bit incontinent, so I'd like to replace them soon. I'd like to do coilovers but at the time I can't justify the price. I'm hoping to score some lightly used takeoffs from someone here on the forum.

Well that's about it. I'm not very familiar with working on these cars, like I said it never realy gave me a reason to, so I'll probably be more of a taker here than a giver. In addition to the wife's BMW, I also own a 280ZX turbo and a gen1 SHO. If you have any questions about those last two, I can help. Looking forward to this project, car work is fun when you have time and some extra money. Thanks in advance for your help.

Robert
