Hay guys im Kevin from Chicago, I recently bought a 1993 FD.

I bought this car as a projects to work on during the winter. Let me explain to you whats happening.

It will need some minor body work. Engine runs strong but there are tons of vaccum leaks.

Today I checked the airfilter piping and IC piping guess what every thing was loose some pipes didnt even have the silicone tubing that wraps around it and was leaking air everywhere. From what i can say the car is slow/sluggish from a dead stop it takes awhile to get to speed. You can feel boost at around 5k then its fast, Maybe the first turbo is not working?

Definetely want to fix the vacum lines. It will be easier to troubleshoot any other problems. I reccommend checking out Rob Robinette's 3rd Gen Site and check out
the vacuum hose replacement tips. There is another one that is real good w/pics, I have copies of it somewhere in my RX7 books. I purchased seemless, silicone vacum hose from Hose Techniques. Contact them for some good hose. Take this time to eliminate all the stuff you dont need, there is alot. Save all you OEM parts.

if she wont suck she won't blow do not drive your car, before you touch every hose,.replace it with a new soft silicone hose. rotories are famous for not only the HP .but their ability to melt down any factory hose that is on it it turns them to stone ,carefull when taking of the small ones its better to cut of the hoses than attemt to pull them off,they break real nice,tighten all the hoses and clamps after then test the vacume with a gauge 14psi at Idle,for a final check spray water on the engine slowly if it starts choking watch where the water goes and follow up on the leaks once you have a well sealed engine take it for a run,ps invest in a good vacume gauge its the most important gauge in the car besides water temp and oil pressure.......................................... .......

 

banzai has color coordinated vacuum line diagrams on their website. best of luck, i gave up and took it in to banzai and they're doing a rebuild and replacing all of the vacuum lines with silicone lines is a part of the cost and process
