Hard-Core DSMer, Bought My First Rotary

Hey all,

Well somehow I got sucked into the world of rotary's. I've been on this site for about a month looking for a FC to do THIS to:

However I ran into a guy with an FD that he was flirting around selling the shell to me. Then today he called me wanting to sell it for a good price. I jumped at the deal and, well, here she is!









Already I've been offered a GREAT profit to sell it by a hard-core rotary guy in the area, he said this is the cleanest FD he's seen in a while.

As a hard-core DSM guy, I'm familiar with alot of the performance parts on the car, but it has an Apexi Power FC EMS that I have never used. It also came equipped with a T4 GT40R (or so the owner claims), Tial wastegate and BOV, Aeromotive AFPR, 3" turboback, Innovate wideband O2, ACT 6-Puck clutch with street/strip PP, etc etc etc. I am still waiting for a full list of mods from the owner, but I'll be identifying and compiling my own list also. The owner also stated that he had just installed the motor, which came from a race shop. Details on that soon, but the motor is CLEAN, and looks professional.

The car has a few qualms though, that hopefully you all can help with. I will be checking out the Newbie and FAQ section, but maybe someone can point me to the right direction with these issues:

1.) The passenger window switch doesn't work. I'll pull it out and check for continuity in the wire harness, but is this a common issue??

2.) The car has died once when I push the clutch in to stop at a stoplight. This used to happen in my DSM with an aluminum flywheel, and somebody told me it happens to rotarys also when the revs drop too fast. I dont know, probably an idle adjustment issue.

3) The A/C and PS was taken out. With the current turbo/IC setup I wonder if it will fit back in? I'll be researching this.

4) O2's at cruise are about 12:1...way rich compared to what I tune my DSM to. I can smell it too. O2's at WOT (11 PSI running off the wastegate spring) are a mild 10.6:1 . What do you guys usually tune to?

5) Lastly, what is the base fuel pressure supposed to be set to for these cars? I'm also identifying the fuel injectors, as they aren't stock.

6) Lastly, is there a forum that deals with the Apexi Power FC? I have a nice little netbook I tune my DSM with. Looks like I'll be loading up the Apexi software and learning that too.

Nice find, I have been trying to get some of my DSM friends to change over to try something different.
