Greetings from Shreveport, LA

I have always admired the RX7 but was never passionate about the car. Last week I answered a classified ad for a 1990 Mazda RX7, the only contact information was an email address.

Yesterday a man called me up and asked if I was still interested. I said "yes", he informed me that it was a convertible and that the turn signals did not work, the radio didn't power up and the convertible top was broke. The car had also been sitting for about a year.

I went and looked at it anyway. I got there and an 80 year old guy walked out with 2 Mercedes in the driveway. He said the car was too low to the ground for him and he just wanted it out of the driveway.

The car seemed to run fine and despite the problems I liked it. When I got back the old guy said "Look, just give me $1000 for the car, I want it gone today." After fiddling with the top for about 10 minutes with no success, we agreed on $700. I figured the wheels and tires alone had to worth that much.

While driving the car back to work I couldn’t get over how much fun I was to drive! Quick and m=nimble with a great exhaust tone! Had I known 20 years ago how much fun this car is to drive I surely would have picked one up!

I got back to work and everyone was marveling at what a fine looking automobile I had just acquired. I said "wait, the top does not go up and down." not such a good deal, rite? A co-worker reached in, started the car, pulled the E-brake and pushed the button and to my amazement lowered the top!

Had the old guy known how to lower the top the price probably would have been a lot more. Whatever the case, I am now hooked on this little rotary engine car.

My apologies for the long post.
Regards,
~Todd

No apologies necessary, Todd. That's the best intro I've read so far. It's also a great "barnyard" find story!

Welcome aboard and congratulations on the find! Get some Lotto tickets while you're on a roll!
